Glass intimate accessories: inspection, cleaning and storage

A material name is not a guarantee

A beautiful glass object does not become an intimate accessory because of its shape. Choose a purpose-made product with clear material information, care instructions and manufacturer contact details. A decorative sculpture or an object of unknown origin is not a substitute.

Inspect every time

Examine the surface in good light. Cracks, chips or rough areas mean the accessory must not be used. After a fall or hard impact, the absence of visible damage does not prove safety. If in doubt, take the item out of use rather than testing it on your body.

Follow the cleaning instructions

Care depends on the specific product. Do not assume all glass can be boiled, placed in a dishwasher or rapidly heated and cooled. Follow the manufacturer's permitted temperatures, cleaning method and drying instructions; avoid experimenting with extreme temperatures.

Store separately

Place the dry accessory in its own soft pouch or padded box so it cannot hit hard objects. Inspection and careful storage matter more than promises of an unbreakable material. Clear care instructions should be available before purchase.

Check the origin before ordering

A listing should identify intended use, material, dimensions and accessible care advice. Glass alone does not explain construction, suitability for body contact or temperature limits. Find the manufacturer’s name and a way to ask about the model. Do not substitute a decorative object for an intimate product. Missing information is a reason to delay ordering. Neither price nor an attractive colour confirms suitability for the planned use. Additional accessories should have a clear purpose too.

Make room for careful inspection

Inspect on a stable surface in good light, away from the edge of a sink or table. Do not make inspection a formality after a fall. When unsure, do not test strength on your body or polish a defect at home. A case or covering does not make damaged glass suitable. Describe the event and model when contacting the manufacturer and keep purchase details. Store retired items separately from usable ones to avoid mixing them up accidentally.

Arrange care without temperature experiments

Find instructions for your particular model first. Advice about cookware or another accessory should not be transferred automatically. Where a cleaning method is permitted, follow temperature and drying limits too. Avoid abrupt heating or cooling to seek unusual sensations. Once fully dry, keep the item separately protected against impacts with other objects. For travel, consider packaging and pressure inside luggage. Careful handling does not remove the need to inspect again after transportation.
