Intimate accessory materials: what to check on the packaging
Appearance does not reveal composition
A soft or smooth surface does not identify a material. TPE and TPR describe material families, not one exact formula. Even silicone needs clear product information. Ask about composition, intended purpose and care before buying.
Look for specific information
Find a material description, manufacturer contact and instructions. Body-safe or premium promises do not replace verifiable details. If the seller cannot explain composition, an attractive photograph or discount need not decide your purchase.
Care is product-specific
Do not automatically transfer one accessory's cleaning method to another. Temperatures, permitted products and water resistance should come from instructions. Electronics change care requirements. Unknown composition is no reason to experiment with boiling or strong chemicals.
Check condition regularly
Stop using an accessory with a sticky, cracked or damaged surface. Store items separately and dry according to instructions. The aim is not the most expensive product but one with understandable composition, care and limitations.
Distinguish a material name from a finished product
Silicone, glass, metal or plastic tells only part of the story. A product may include coatings, joins, adhesives and electronic parts with separate limits. Check which surfaces touch the body and how they may be cleaned. Medical alone does not establish every property. A clear purpose, precise composition and accessible manual are needed. Ask before ordering when listing details conflict. Softness or shine does not reveal composition, and visually similar products may require different care.
Check compatibility for the model
General material advice may overlook a coating or mixed construction. Confirm lubricant compatibility and care for your particular item. Do not use household solvents to seek stronger cleaning. Splash protection is not permission to immerse an electronic housing. Boiling is not automatically suitable for anything without a battery. If limits are unexplained, do not test them experimentally. Keep instructions beside the model name to avoid confusing rules for similar accessories. The clearest design may be easier to maintain than a complicated alternative.
Condition matters beyond the original label
After buying, inspect the surface, attachments and joins. Cracks, peeling, stickiness or distortion are reasons to stop and ask the manufacturer. Do not hide damage with improvised covering or treat a pleasant fragrance as proof of cleanliness. Persistent irritation deserves assessment rather than random cleaning-product changes. Select materials together with purpose, construction and care. High price and a lengthy description cannot replace specific facts or continued attention to the item’s condition.
